The 2012 Stearns Square Summer Concert Series line up offers something for everyone!
Music lovers from all over are drawn to the concert series (by the thousands) and, to Downtown Springfield every Thursday evening.
Something different this season is the addition of two Tribute Bands; Danny V’s 52n Street Band (Billy Joel) & Draw the Line (Aerosmith). We are also pleased to bring back a “tried and true” favorite; Roomful of Blues.
We are especially excited about the return to the Stearns Square Summer Concert Series, The Smithereens (August 9th)
And, by popular demand the Concert Series is going to an 11th week! the final week will be our “local finale night”.
The 2012 line up (subject to change) is as follows:

July 12 – Spampinato Brothers (formerly of NRBQ)

July 26 – Luther Guitar Junior Johnson
August 02 – Christine Ohlman from the Saturday Night Live Band

August 23 – Draw The Line
August 30 – John Eddie
September 06 – (“local finale night”) King Country – Ray Guillemette Jr. & Lindsey LaBelle
Theodore’s Blues, Brew & BBQ (Worthington Street, Springfield) “Intro Bands” will perform prior to our main venue starting at/around 6:15p – 7:30p. Main Artists perform from 8p-9:30p
The bands will perform rain or shine. In the case of inclement weather, the venue will be moved to City Stage.

The “Art Party” moves to One Financial Plaza at 1350 Main Street where NAI Plotkin will host a reception and opening for students from Commonwealth Honors College at the University of Massachusetts Amherst from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Art created by the students inspired by Gustav Holst’s The Planets will be displayed in the lobby. This is the second year for this collaboration. One Financial Plaza is not only the venue for this collaboration but a new home to the programs studios. Tours of the new studio space will be available during the reception.

The tours begin at 10:30 AM at the Springfield Museums Welcome Center. Free parking is available in the Museum lots on Edwards and State streets. The tours typically wrap up around noon (either back at the Welcome Center or at the last stop of the tour). Admission is $5.00 per person, but free for AQCA and Springfield Museums members.
If you don’t feel up to walking to part or all of the stops, you can always ask the tour leader where the first stop is and drive there. The tours happen rain or shine, so please dress comfortably.
