A Seussian Summer Celebration

One Summer! Two Summer! Three Summers of SEUSS! Please join us for a Seussian Summer Celebration Saturday, June 15! We are excited to announce new permanent interactive exhibits in the Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum and a day FILLED with fun! Be one of the first to play with these features in the first and only museum dedicated to Springfield native Theodor Seuss Geisel, AKA Dr. Seuss, the author who revolutionized learning how to read by making it FUN! Come play with us!

A Seussian Summer Celebration activities include:
11 am-3 pm: Build Our Own Seussville – Use recycled materials like paper towel tubes, boxes, and cups to help create a fun and whimsical city! Be inspired by the castle in Oh the Places You’ll Go, Whoville, or your very own hometown. Add your own architecture to this group project! Quadrangle, Rain Location, Discovery Lab
11 am-3 pm: More Wild than You Think – Do you like cats, especially the Cat in the Hat? Learn about real-life feline adaptation by getting up close to tracks, furs, skulls, claws, and teeth of the Cat’s wild friends! Lower Level, Africa Hall, SSM
1 pm The Expandable Brass Band –Loud, raucous, and full of fun, the Expandable Brass Band is dedicated to spreading joyful music to the people of Western Massachusetts and beyond. Quadrangle
11 am-3 pm: Balloons with Professors Knows A. Lot – Twisting, bending, shaping balloons – what kind will you choose?
11 am-2 pm Meet the Cat in the Hat and Thing 1 and thing 2! – Get a high five or a hug, and get your photo taken with Dr. Seuss’s most famous characters!
11 am-2 pm Family Science Adventures – Explore the Science Museum and find the Roving Scientist. You never know what kind of demonstrations and hands-on activities they have in store for you! Roaming, Springfield Science Museum
12-4 pm Art Discovery Center – Trace Chinese characters, try on costumes, play gallery games, peek under lift-up panels on the Wall of Symbols to discover the meaning behind Asian motifs, put on a puppet show, and make an art project. 2nd Floor, George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum
