Springfield Museums, Leonardo’s Lab: Opening Celebration

Be among the first to experience our latest exhibit and step into the world of one of history’s most extraordinary minds: artist, draughtsman, engineer, scientist, theorist, sculptor, and architect Leonardo da Vinci. Free with museum admission.

Leonardo’s Lab, 10 am-5 pm
Immerse yourself in the mind of Leonardo da Vinci, the original “Renaissance Man.” Explore all the fascinating facets of his work across multiple disciplines in very hands-on ways, as you build, sketch, test and design via activities tied to his era and ideas. Changing Exhibits Gallery, Second Floor, Springfield Science Museum

Live Animal Encounter, 11 am-2 pm
Leonardo da Vinci created many sketches of animals. Come meet some of the animals that call the Museums home. Reptile Wall, Lower Level, Springfield Science Museum

Inventor Trivia 11 am-3 pm
Spin the wheel and test your knowledge of inventors and inventions throughout history. African Hall, First Floor, Springfield Science Museum

Stick Bridges, 11 am-3 pm
How strong can you build a bridge using only the materials provided? Discovery Lab, Lower Level, Springfield Science Museum

Fascinating Fossils, 11 am-3 pm
Did you know Leonardo da Vinci studied fossils? Come learn about how fossils are classified. Science Workshop, Second Floor, Springfield Science Museum

Spectacular Sfumato, 12-4 pm
Learn about sfumato, an art technique Leonardo da Vinci used, then give it a try. Art Discovery Center, Second Floor, GWV Smith Art Museum
