Foodies Take Note: Downtown Springfield Now Has Two New Eateries, BarKaya and Delaney’s Market, Opening This Week

Springfield’s new sushi and ramen restaurant is set to have their Grand Opening today on International Sushi Day, Tuesday, June 18th from 3:00-5: 00 pm. Located at 278 Worthington Street, BarKaya offers fresh sushi, house-made ramen and the area’s only Omakase dining experience.

“I wanted to open a sushi restaurant that emphasizes quality and creates a positive impact on the Springfield dining scene,” said owner, Chris McKiernan. “We’re excited to be a part of Springfield’s Restaurant District,” he added.

The restaurant offers an array of fresh sushi, appetizers, ramen, and a full bar. We invite you to the Grand Opening on June 18 at 3:00 PM and celebrate International Sushi Day with the BarKaya team.


Owner Peter Rosskothen is excited to announce the opening of a Delaney’s Market store located at 1365 Main St, Springfield. The grand opening and ribbon cutting celebration is scheduled for 4 pm on June 19, 2019. Rosskothen said, “We are excited to have the Honorable Domenic J. Sarno, Mayor of the City of Springfield, preside over the ceremony.  We are also looking forward to welcoming press, supporters, and friends to this special event”.

Roberta Hurwitz, General Manager adds, “We are so excited to be part of downtown Springfield! The renaissance of the city is happening; we look forward to being a great citizen and neighbor”.
