NEXT UP,  WILLY’S OVERLAND LOFTS AT 151 CHESTNUT STREET

The project will feature the historic renovation of the original showroom for the Willys Overland Motor Company. The 76,000 square foot building will include 60 loft apartments with state-of-the-art features such as granite kitchens, stainless steel appliances and washers and dryers in every unit. Amenities will include indoor parking, fitness center, storage units and a lobby with shared work spaces, a package delivery area, a kitchen and lounge area, which will be available for private events, and a common area with soft seating for casual gatherings.

The design will celebrate many industrial features of the original building with brick walls, exposed ductwork and industrial style windows, which will let in abundant natural light. Complementing these historic features, the building will include state of the art energy efficient windows, insulation, appliances and HVAC.

The first floor of Overland Lofts will include 3,680 square feet of retail space facing Chestnut Street, a major thoroughfare in downtown Springfield. The retail spaces can be demised for tenants as small as 1,200 square feet.

1. HISTORY

OVERLAND LOFTS IS THE FIRST NEW APARTMENT COMPLEX IN SPRINGFIELD’S DOWNTOWN IN DECADES. 

Built in 1916 for the Willys-Overland Motor Company (Jeep) and served as a showroom and regional office here in downtown.The Willys-Overland building has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1983 due to its connection to Springfield’s automotive history.

Overland Lofts is a new mixed use development currently under construction in downtown Springfield, MA. The project will feature the historic renovation of the original showroom for the Willys Overland Motor Company. The company built similar buildings around the country, including one in Detroit, Michigan, that was also successfully repurposed for residential use.
